KINGSFORD — Arlyce M. Munday, 90, of East Kingsford, passed away peacefully at Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford.

Arlyce was born on May 6, 1929, in Bear Creek, Wis., and was the daughter of the late Perl and Loretta (Oneska) Behnke. She was a graduate of Clintonville High School, and on March 25, 1951, married Herman Munday in Clintonville, Wis.

In 1960, Arlyce and Herman moved to this area. In addition to raising her family, she worked for many years at the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District. She also worked as a greeter well into her eighties at the Iron Mountain Walmart store.

Arlyce and Herman celebrated 57 years of marriage before Herman preceded her in death in 2009. Arlyce was an active member of First Lutheran Church and served as a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years. She was a Michigan Extension Homemaker and over the years enjoyed crafts, sewing, watching her birds and taking care of her flower gardens.

In addition to her husband, Herman, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Cindy; brother-in-law, Dale Drath; and sister-in-law, Dorie Behnke.

Arlyce is survived by her children, Steven (Cindy) Munday of Norway, David (Jody) Munday of Kingsford and Kathy Berger of Quinnesec; brothers, Earl (Deanne) Behnke of Clintonville, Maurice Behnke of Clintonville, and Ordelle (Darlene) Behnke of Clintonville; sister, Betty Drath of New London, Wis.; grandchildren, Stephanie (Rob) Luenberg, Michelle (Tony) Olsen, Steven Munday, Stacie (Mark) Vaher, Mark (Traci) Moraska, Jesse Moraska, Jeremy Berger, Krystle (Ignacio) Madrussan, Kelly (Steve) Butterfield and Troy Plonke; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Aug. 23 at First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain.

Funeral services will follow at noon at the church. Rev. Paul Strom will officiate.

Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery.
