IRON MOUNTAIN — Donald L. Juhola, 88, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019, at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.

Donald was born May 9, 1931, in Ishpeming, son of the late John and Hilma (Niemi) Juhola. He graduated from Ishpeming High School and was drafted into the United States Army.

Don married Patricia Tavonatti on Dec. 6, 1952, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. For over 30 years he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic, first at the mine in Ishpeming and then at the Hannah Mine, retiring in 1982.

He enjoyed hunting, taking saunas, feeding the birds and spending time at camp with his family. He especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and taking trips to the casino with his grandkids.

He is survived by his daughters, Denise (Russ) Pericolosi of Iron Mountain, Lori (Jim) Runsat of Kingsford, Sandy (Mike) Lusardi of Eagle River, Wis., Nancy (Joseph) Peacock of Menominee, and Sue (Chuck) Valind of Castalian Springs, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, Scott (Melissa) Rutter, Brandon (Tracy) Rutter, Sherri (Randy) Erickson, Jessica (Lawrence) Harris, Jamie (Matthew) Lockhart, Melissa (Jim) Hewitt, Ryan (Sara) Pericolosi, Kevin (Megan) Runsat, Corey (Hillari) Runsat, Kelly (Derek) Menard, Katie (Marcus) Harry and Nick (fianceé Denae) Lusardi; 16 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia in 2008; four brothers, and nine sisters.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Monday, Sept. 23 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.

A memorial service will follow at noon the funeral home. Pastor Kevin Sullivan will officiate.

Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.

The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 will conduct military graveside honors.
