Harold W. Kegler

IRON MOUNTAIN — Harold W. Kegler, 93, of White Birch Village, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.

He was born Jan. 31, 1926, in Evanston, Ill., the son of the late Harold and Judith (Johnson) Kegler. He married Isabella Dastic on Sept. 21, 1946, in Wilmette, Ill.

He was a WWII Navy veteran and a retired police officer.

He moved to Iron Mountain in 1973 and was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in its quilters club and choir.

He is survived by his daughter, Judith (Roger) Thompson of Clinton, Ill.; son-in-law, Lance Wiese of Iron Mountain; five grandchildren, Teresa (Wally) Hooker of Carbondale, Ill., Jennifer (Dave) Cisco of Speedway, Ind., James (Charleah) Thompson of Clinton, and Eric and Lisa Wiese of Norway; two great-grandchildren, Josie Cisco of Speedway and Anelise Thompson of Clinton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Isabella, and daughter, Linda.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his memory.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church.

A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Bryan Laurila will officiate.

The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 will conduct military honors following the service.

Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery.
