MENASHA, Wis. — Ramon John Altobelli, 57, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Menasha, on Oct. 24, 2019.

Ramon was born on April 14, 1962, in Escanaba to John and Rena Altobelli and he is survived by his two children, Dominic and Anthony Altobelli.

Ramon grew up in Escanaba and loved to play sports with his three brothers, Danny, Tony and Dean; and his sister, Paula. He attended St. Anne Catholic Church in Escanaba, where he served as an altar boy. He was an active Boy Scout and enjoyed being a paperboy. Ramon attended Escanaba High School where he played varsity tennis and football for the Escanaba Eskymos who reached the State Finals in 1981. He also grew up playing baseball.

Ramon graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in paper engineering. After graduation, he started his professional career at Kimberly-Clark in Neenah, Wis. He had a 29-year career at Kimberly-Clark that included a 5-year assignment in Connecticut, and he finished his career at Kimberly-Clark as a Senior Engineering Manager.

Ramon was a volunteer coach for Dominic and Anthony’s sports teams and he loved practicing sports with his sons and cheering them on at their ball games.

Ramon was passionate about cooking, grilling and entertaining family and friends. He enjoyed outdoor activities, including golfing, boating, skiing and snowmobiling. Ramon was an avid sports fan and was especially passionate about the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Michigan State Spartans and the University of Alabama football team.

Ramon loved life and people adored his outgoing, fun-loving personality. He was very giving and he made friends everywhere. Ramon was very passionate about the holidays and loved celebrating them with his family and friends.

His father John preceded Ramon in death.

Survivors include his sons, Dominic and Anthony of Menasha; his mother, Rena of Escanaba; his siblings, Daniel of Appleton, Wis., Paula (John) Baker of Grand Rapids, Tony of Palo Alto, Calif., and Dean of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; his nieces, Amarena Baker Nelson (Paul) of Grand Rapids and Gabrielle Baker (Drew Turnipseed) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; his nephews, Nicholas Altobelli of Appleton, Michael Altobelli of Chicago and Jeremy Fisher of Appleton; his uncle, Melvin Pordon of Lakewood, Wis.; his aunts, Josephine Syrjanen of Florence, Wis., Betty Pardon of Escanaba and Pat Pardon of Hartford, Wis.; many special cousins; and his girlfriend, Cheryl Franzen of Fond du Lac, Wis.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, located at 312 S. State Street in Appleton, WI.

The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 5:30 p.m., with Fr. Bill Swichtenberg officiating. A private burial in the Upper Peninsula will be held at a later date.
