Doloris Lorraine Ruechel

NIAGARA, Wis. — Doloris Lorraine Ruechel, 89, of Niagara, went to her heavenly reward on Monday, Nov. 4, 2019.

Doloris was born in Green Bay Wis. on Aug. 11, 1930, to Rev. Peter and Sylvia Buenting. She graduated from Cedarburg High School and entered into her calling as a teacher. She married Ralph A. Ruechel on July 4, 1954, in Appleton, Wis. She was married to Ralph for 44 years until his death in 1998.

Doloris took time off from teaching and enjoyed being a housewife and mother to her four children, Kristie, Steven, Joel and Thomas.

In 1966 she moved to Niagara, where she would live out the remainder of her days. After her children entered school, Doloris returned to teaching, working as a head start teacher for 30 years in the Breitung Township school system.

Doloris loved working in her flower garden and loved to travel both here and abroad.

She enjoyed watching movies and of course her beloved Green Bay Packers.

She was an active church member at First Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain, where she led Bible studies with the women’s group.

There were very few people that Doloris could not get along with. She was a breath of fresh air and a living example of the love she had for her Savior Jesus Christ.

She was truly an inspiration to her entire family. She was a spiritual rock in our family and always had a positive attitude. Her sense of humor was infectious. While she will be truly missed by her family and friends, Heaven has become an even more joyous place due to her homecoming.

Doloris is survived by her daughter, Kristie (Joe) Eagles of Appleton; and three sons, Steven (Kathy) Ruechel of Cottonwood, Ariz; Joel (Michala) Ruechel of Holbrook, Ariz.; and Thomas Ruechel of Niagara.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Ruth Eagles, Rachel Eagles, Tammy Eagles, Amy (Seth) Loomer, Kayla (Josh) McWorthy, Jason (Jerelyn) Ruechel, Alixandria (Ben) Bennett, Jacob (Anna) Ruechel, Eryn Ruechel, Jessica (Jamie) Neumann and Tisha (Brian) Ruechel.

She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Rev. Howard (Roberta) Buenting and many nieces and nephews.

Doloris was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; a grandson, Brian Ruechel; her great-grandson, Preston Joseph Eagles; a brother, Rev. Harold Buenting; and a sister, Marilyn Becker; and her parents.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Nov. 7 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.

Services will follow at noon on Thursday at the funeral home. Pastor Ed Laarman will officiate.
