Henry A. London

IRON MOUNTAIN — Henry A. London, 97, of Iron Mountain, went peacefully to be with his Lord on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.

Henry was born on Aug. 3, 1922, in North Dakota, son of the late Henry and Henrietta (Pietch) London. He was raised in Pine Creek and graduated from Vulcan High School in 1940. Henry joined the United States Navy after his brother Jimmy died at Pearl Harbor. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Henry married the love of his life, Joyce Davidson on Oct. 5, 1946. They acquired their first home on Harding Ave. in Kingsford while Henry worked for the Ford Motor Company. After Ford left this area, he worked as a carpenter and then as a fireman for the City of Kingsford for 25 years until his retirement.

Henry was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and boating. He also enjoyed going to airshows and was active in Boy Scouts with his son Dean. Henry loved going to the football games in the area and watching the Green Bay Packers. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Henry and Joyce traveled extensively and spent many winters in Florida, where they enjoyed square dancing and singing with choirs there. Henry was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and a longtime member of the church choir. He also sang solos at weddings and funerals. Henry was an active member of the Kiwanis Golden K, Masonic Lodge and the Golden Throats Choir.

He will be deeply missed by family and friends for his advice on projects and his ability to fix just about anything.

Henry is survived by his wife of 73 years, Joyce; son, Dean (Judy) London of Hamilton Lakes; daughter, Wendy (Steve) Mulka of Kingsford; seven grandchildren, Lori (Don) Greco, Kristen London, with great-grandchildren, Miah and Evelyn, Matthew Mulka, Paul (Alissa) Mulka, Stevie (Teri) Mulka, Cameron Mulka, Kyle (Hillary) Mulka, with great-grandson, Myles; sister, Elna Paulson of Chico, Calif.; brother- and sister-in-law, Clayton and Alice Davidson.

In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by four sisters, Laura Nicholas, Beatrice Browning, Mabel Hess and Doris Harrington; a brother, James London; brother and sister-in-law, Blair and Bev Davidson, and Clarence and Delores Luba.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Dec. 13 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain. Memorial services will follow at noon at the church. Rev. Geri Hamlen will officiate.

The family wishes to thank Arms of Angels and the many caregivers and veterans who helped Henry live at home with Joyce in his last years.
