Randy Piper

IRON MOUNTAIN — Randy A. Piper, 66, of Iron Mountain, passed away after a long battle with cancer.

He was born Nov. 28, 1953, in Neenah, Wis., son of the late Robert E. and Geraldine (Cavalieri) Piper. Randy grew up in Neenah and graduated from Neenah High School. After graduation, he proudly served in the United States Army for 12 years. Following his time spent in the service, he worked for a large corporation in Saudi Arabia on various projects. Randy was also self-employed as a truck driver and had moved to Iron Mountain in 1995. He married Kathy Ganz, the love of his life of 18 years, on March 22, 2019, in Milwaukee.

Randy enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, barbecuing, cooking, playing darts, and golfing. He participated in the local Quinnesec Falls muzzle-loading club, Last Chance dart league team, and was a member of the skeet shooting clubs in both Menominee and Sagola. Randy also enjoyed traveling to many places, including Panama, Saudi Arabia, and the Bahamas.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Ganz-Piper; and granddaughter, Lilah Schafer at home; three sons, Scot (Brandy) Piper of Elgin, Ill., Robert Piper of Texas, and Ben Piper of Hawaii; two stepdaughters, Lydia (Chris) Bryan of Oregon, and Sarah Demerath of Milwaukee; three brothers, his twin, Rodney (Kris) Piper of Sagola, Jeff (Debbie) Piper of New London, Wis., and Kevin (Sherri) Piper of Iron Mountain; two sisters, Kelly (Robin) Tchokreff of Iron Mountain, and Paula (Geno) Alessandrini of Merriman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lori (Mike) Mellon of Iron Mountain, Ernie (Sharon) Ganz of Crystal Falls, and Gail (Larry) Ragan of Colorado; five grandchildren, Cassie, Shelby, Cody, Nicole, and Olivia; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Dinky.

Graveside services will be at noon Friday, Dec. 13 at Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.

The American Legion Uren-Cooper-Johnson Post 50 will accord military honors at graveside.

A lunch reception will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Liuna Local 1329 Union Hall: 1800 N. Stephenson Avenue, Iron Mountain.
