Warden E. “Sonny” Lindstrom

AURORA, Wis. — Warden E. “Sonny” Lindstrom, 90, of Aurora, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital.

He was born Feb. 9, 1929, in Aurora, Wis., son of the late Elmer and Alice (Provencher) Lindstrom. He graduated from Coleman High School in 1947. Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War Veteran. Sonny married Margaret Olson in May of 1953 in Aurora.

He worked as a logger for many years and also held a position at the First National Bank in Niagara for several years. Sonny was a member of the D.A.V. and the Cretton-Tutas American Legion Post 136 in Niagara.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and cutting wood. Sonny was a skilled woodworker and wood carver. He loved spending time with his family.

Sonny is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret; his daughter, Kathleen (Gary) Spade of Niagara; three sons, Keith (Terri) Lindstrom, Allen Lindstrom, and Rick (Didi) Lindstrom, all of Aurora; a brother, Howard (Priscilla) Lindstrom of Aurora; a sister, Carol Thomson of Lena; 17 grandchildren, Warden III, Sarah, Jill, Clint, Corey, Matthew, Jesse, Karly, Kasey, Jen, Holly, Jeremy, Shane, Scott, Nicole, Tara and Tony; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by a son, Warden Lindstrom Jr. and a sister, Dr. Joyce Baylor.

Graveside services with military honors will be held in the spring at Homestead-Aurora Cemetery and will be announced prior to the service.
