CRYSTAL FALLS — Regina Helene Myers (née Zalewski), 92, passed away peacefully on Jan. 17, 2020, at Ascension Hospital in Franklin, Wis., surrounded by her loving family.

She leaves behind her devoted husband of 61 years, George Myers, two sons, Tony (Ellen) Myers of Franklin and Bill (Jodi) Myers of Hales Corners Wis.; and seven grandchildren, Bree Watral of Milwaukee, Kristine Watral of Evanston Ill., Ariana Myers of Princeton N.J., Logan Myers of Minneapolis, Brian Myers of Franklin, and Morgan Myers and Kaylee Myers of Hales Corners.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeanette and Walter Zalewski of Hamtramck; a sister, Gertrude Kosowski of Detroit; a brother, Harold Parkison of Dyer, Ind.; and beloved daughter, Jeanette (Wayne) Watral of Webster, Wis.

Regina was born in Detroit on Valentine’s Day in 1927. She was orphaned at an early age and was raised by an aunt. She worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Co., where she met the love of her life, George Myers. They married in 1958.

In 1969 they moved to Iron Mountain with their three children. In 1970 they bought a farm in the Buck Lake District near Alpha. They spent 42 wonderful years on the farm. Thanks to the help of friendly neighbors, they learned to raise many farm animals, including Regina’s favorites — goats.

She was an active member of St. Edwards Church in Alpha, then Guardian Angels Church in Crystal Falls, participating in many activities, such as making pasties, choir, eucharistic minister, teaching CCD and prayer groups.

She developed the God’s Garden program to teach children about God. She also volunteered as a 4-H leader and participated in Crystal Falls Community Theatre. Her best-known acting role was George Burns’ wife, Gracie Allen.

Regina kept very busy with many activities including gardening, raising and milking goats, and knitting. She was an excellent cook and fed anyone who came to her door. She was a talented writer and counseled many people with her therapeutic writing skills. She loved her family dearly, and they loved her back. She loved being “Busia” and watching her seven grandchildren grow up. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Eulogy will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass at Guardian Angels Church.
