Glenda Kay Beck

CRYSTAL FALLS — Glenda Kay Beck, 79, of Crystal Falls, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease

Glenda was born April 10, 1940 in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late Oscar and Tunie (Alto) Beck.

She graduated from Crystal Falls High School and went on to attend Suomi College in Hancock. When she returned to Crystal Falls, she worked for the city and then the MA Hanna Company both in Iron River and at the Groveland Mine. Glenda took great pride in her work at the Crystal Falls library after she retired enjoying the new friendships she made and working with the kids of the community.

Glenda always had a song in her heart and loved listening to music after she wasn’t playing. She was a member of the Iron County Musicians organization and played accordion in the Glendals Band with her brother. Glenda also was an active life member in the VFW auxiliary serving as bingo chairman for several years.

She loved to be outdoors fishing, skiing and traveling as well as doing crossword puzzles, crafts and computer work. Before Alzheimer’s, if there was something going on around town or in the family, you could count on Glenda being a part of it and pitching in if needed.

She leaves behind her only brother, Alton and sister-in-law Helen. She didn’t have children of her own but she treated her nieces and nephews like they were including: Alan (Cindy) Beck of Republic, Holly (Mark) Novitski of Green Bay, Wis., and Keary (Dana) Beck of Crystal Falls; along with many great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Glenda was preceded in death by her husbands, Tino Reckla and Orlando Echola; and by her nieces, Susan Stoor and Charlene Beck.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Iron County Medical Care facility for the care given to Glenda while she was there.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
