David A. Miller

MILWAUKEE — David A. Miller, 77, of Milwaukee, Wis., passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020, at his home.

He was born Oct. 17, 1943, in Marinette, Wis., son of the late Gust and Agnes Miller. Dave grew up in Fern, Wis. and attended Florence High School. He served our country in the United States Air Force.

Dave was an ambitious young man. With a chainsaw in his truck his new profession in the tree business began. He created a very successful business and passed his skills to his sons and grandsons. The day before his death he was still mentoring his grandson.

Dave passed along not just his business, but his strong desire for his family to know Christ. His spiritual journey started in a little country hometown church when he was a young boy. However, his relationship with Christ grew deeper with his intense study of scripture and love for the Lord. He loved to talk about the Bible. There were many hours of discussion around the kitchen table. He was a master at storytelling and always had us laughing with his outlandish tales and his water witching.

He lived in Milwaukee, but his heart belonged up North where he was raised. His time up North included many memorable hunting gatherings, family reunions, and children celebrations.

He was generous with his land. Not only were family members given full access, but so were several church organizations. He felt strong that the young men from the Milwaukee area were able to further their Christian walk by attending retreats held on his property.

He had wealth, but you would never know it. He lived a simple and frugal life so others could enjoy his fortunes.

His legacy is not about his material possessions, but of his evident love for Christ. For years this has been his most important mission — for all to know Christ.

Dave will be missed by his children, Vicki (Michael) Bianchi, Tom (Stefani) Miller, Susan Miller, Christine (Michael) Hurkmans, David Miller, Maryanne (Michael) Gibler, Rick (Robin) Priddy, David (Julie) Priddy, Donny Priddy, and Dreama (Kenny) Rowling; two brothers, Bob Miller and Rod (Nancy) Miller; one sister, Bonnie LaMar; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and longtime friend, Terri Michols and her sons, Danny and Nic.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Herman Miller, Donald Miller, Leslie Miller, Oscar Miller, and Tom Miller, and two sisters, Dorothy Vassar and Marlene Fontana.

A private burial for immediate family will be held at the Fence Bible Church in Fence, Wisconsin. Pastor Tim Smith will officiate.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held in Miller fashion on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fence Town Hall. We look forward to everyone joining us as we celebrate Dave’s life.

“…I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11: 25-26

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Fence Bible Church, 583 Memory Lane, Fence, WI, 54120
