Dennis E. Dorn

AURORA, Wis. — Dennis E. Dorn, 73, of Aurora, passed away at home on May 23, 2020. 

Dennis was born on Oct. 18, 1946, in Appleton, Wis., son of the late Edwin and Loretta (Coenen) Dorn.  He was raised in the Appleton area and was a graduate of Appleton West High School. He went on to attend Fox Valley Technical College. 

Dennis joined the United States Army in 1966. He served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1969. 

Dennis worked for the Niagara of Wisconsin Paper Mill for many years, retiring in 2003. 

He married Margaret Rae Howen on Jan. 17, 1981, at the Assembly of God Church in Seymour, Wis.

Dennis was a member of Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Kingsford. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Northwoods Tractor Club. 

His greatest joy was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Dennis also enjoyed gospel and country music, horses, John Deere tractors, old cars and travelling the United States, especially Tennessee.

He loved watching a good sunset while praising the Lord for a beautiful day.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughters, Debbie Carr of Columbia City, Ind. and Betsy (Jim) Tschumper of Rollingstone, Minn.; brothers, Richard (Kathy) Dorn of Appleton, Wis. and Gary (Jean) Dorn of Rugby, N.D.; sisters, Darlene (Marvin) Roth of Appleton, Wis., Diane (Mike) Frank of Hortonville, Wis. and Debbie (Don) Geenen of Appleton, Wis.; grandchildren, Katie Tschumper, Kinsey (Hunter) Moody, Coy (Marissa) Carr and Dylan (Katie) Carr; great-grandchildren, Elli and Weston; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be an opportunity from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday, May 29, to offer condolences to Dennis’ family and pay respect to his casket by driving through the upper carport at Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Kingsford. Visitors who drive through are asked to enter the church’s lower parking lot from Breitung Avenue and exit only through the upper carport.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. at Maranatha Assembly of God Church. In accordance with restrictions relating to Covid 19, a limited number of people will be allowed into the church. All others may attend the service by remaining in their vehicles in the church parking lot and tuning into FM Radio Station 87.9, where the funeral service will be broadcast.  Rev. David Wilton will officiate.

Burial will be in Fence Cemetery with the American Legion conducting military graveside honors following the service.
