WILLIAM JOHNSON

NORWAY — William Gustaf Johnson, 81, of Norway, died Friday, May 8, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on Jan. 5, 1939, in Norway, the son of the late Dr. Gustaf and Esther (Johnson) Johnson.

Bill graduated from Norway High School in 1957.

He married Sharon Irene Peart on Feb. 20, 1960, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Norway.

Bill worked for Lakeshore, Niagara Papermill, and the Norway Fire Department for 26 and a half years where he was fire chief, also received the Friend of Norway Award.

He enjoyed working for his friend Roger Pellegrini on the Strawberry Farms during the summer months and woodworking.

Bill loved his camp “Seldom” and enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his side by side with his grandchildren.

He is a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Norway.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sharon of 60 years; daughters, Beth (Greg) Bray of Hamilton Lakes, Lauri Harrison of Hamilton Lakes, Donna (Clay) Ehmer of Norway and Jodi (Ty Dufeck) Johnson of Green Bay, Wis.; grandchildren, Charlene (Jason) Baker, Bill (Keri) Harrison, Michelle Ehmer, Mary Plunger, Eric Ehmer, Andrew Bray, Amber (Kyle) Hopkins, Jaime Graham, and Trinity Dufeck; great grandchildren James and Amelia Baker, Harlow and Rowan Harrison, Harlee and Lily Plunger, his little buddy Axel Plunger, Rayonna and Cheyann Ehmer, Landon Bray, Hunter and Hailey Hopkins and Jordyn and Rylee Valencic; brother, Jerry (Jan) Johnson of Hamilton Lakes; sister, JoAnn (Ron) Kocshak of Minnesota; many nieces and nephews; his pal “Bear”; and good friends, Richard Rochon, David “Porky” Prudhomne, Wayne Wollum and Ray Hewlett.

And he would like to say goodbye to his “Tuesday Family” and “Thursday Prayer Brothers.”

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step- father, Roland Johnson, half-brother, Ken Johnson, step-sister, Betty Lou Priante and step-brother, Richard Johnson and son-in-law, Jim Harrison.

When the restrictions on public gatherings are lifted, a memorial service will be held at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Norway.
