Harold Thoune

He was born in Stephenson, on March 2, 1935 , the son of Arthur A. and Anna M. (Dallis) Thoune. Harold attended school in Foster City.

Jan. 24, 1959, Harold married Eleanor J. Bergstrom at Salem Lutheran Church in Bark River. Eleanor preceded him in death April 8, 2019.

Harold and Eleanor resided in Bark River, until they moved to Escanaba in 2003.

Over the years, Harold worked for Birds Eye Veneer, Bacco Construction, Pine Timber Saw Engineering, and independently as a woodworker.

Harold’s biggest enjoyment was gathering with family, dancing, singing, fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed spending time with a close companion, Shirley Johnson.

He is survived by Jean (Russell) Berger of Wilson, Edward (Gigi) Thoune of Iron Mountain, Tina (Tom) Sweda of Schaffer, David (Tammy) Thoune of Wilson; 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Ellis of Indiana, Alice L’Huillier of Marquette, Lucille Cooper (Ken Savage) of Iron Mountain.

In addition to his parents, and wife Eleanor, he was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Ellen Wickman, Annabelle Peronto; and brothers, Eddie, Joseph , David, Willard, Louie; and granddaughter Mandie

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 28, at 3 p.m. Eastern time with funeral service at 4 p.m. at Berean Baptist Church, 4677 18th Road, Escanaba.
