KINGSFORD — Marjorie J. Hodgins, 91, of Kingsford, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.

Marge was born on Jan. 1, 1929 in Negaunee, one of 12 brothers and sisters. She was raised in Negaunee and was a 1947 graduate of Negaunee High School.

Marge married Paul Hodgins on June 4, 1955, in Iron Mountain. Together they moved to Kingsford and started their family. Marge worked in the office at Goulette’s Cold Storage for many years, Kingsford City Hall and volunteered at the Salvation Army offices.

Marge was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a member of the church choir, the church circle and was involved in many leadership positions in the church throughout the years.

She also enjoyed serving with the Wednesday Community Meal crew at the church. Marge was an accomplished knitter and was eager to teach anyone who wanted to learn. Being an avid reader she supported and frequented the public library.

She is survived by her sons, Timothy Hodgins of Rochester, Minn. and David (Tammy) Hodgins of Homestead, Wis.; three grandchildren, Patrick (Ashley) Hodgins of Mequon, Wis., Benjamin (Emi) Hodgins of Iron Mountain and Stephen (Dayna) Hodgins of Kingsford; three great-grandsons and many nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered by two special nieces, Debbie (Mike) Polzin and Jackie Johnson. She is also survived by her three sisters-in-law; Verna Hower, Alice (Frank) Weaver and Ruth Ann (Henry) Badini. They provided a loving family and included her in all holidays and family activities, which she was very grateful for.

In addition to her parents, Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 1987 and 11 brothers and sisters.

Private family graveside services will be held.

Burial will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens.

The family wishes to thank the loving and caring staff at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility, who treated her with dignity and compassion from her first day to her last.
