Alwilda McConnell
NORWAY — Alwilda (Beck) McConnell, 83, of Norway, passed away Friday, Sept. 25, 2020, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born in Gallitzin, Pa. on June 28, 1937, the daughter of the late Felix and Alwilda (Edmiston) Beck.
Alwilda married Louis D. McConnell on Nov. 8, 1958, at Fort Gordon, in Augusta, Ga.
They lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia and Arkansas before moving to Vulcan in 1971.
She worked many years as a floral designer for Fredricks Floral in Iron Mountain.
Alwilda loved knitting, crocheting, going to camp, snowmobiling, flea markets and bluegrass music. In her later years, summers in Pennsylvania and the winters in Florida was what she looked forward to.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Louis; son, Allen (Becky Langin) McConnell; five grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a large extended family in the eastern states.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Aileen Beck and brother, Bernard Beck.
