Dennis Maki

CRYSTAL FALLS — Dennis Jon Maki, 75, of Crystal Falls Township passed away Monday, Sept. 21, 2020, at Dickinson County Health Care System.

He was born on March 5, 1945, in Stambaugh, son of the late Wayne C. and Helmi (Pakkala) Maki. Dennis was a graduate of Amasa High School.

He married Lynn (Tusa) on May 11, 1972, in Covington. He was employed by MDOT for 27 years doing bridge maintenance. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1966 until his discharge in 1968. Dennis was a member of Sion Lutheran Church of Amasa.

He and his wife Lynn enjoyed spending winters in Fredricksburg, Texas, riding their Harley Davidson Trike. Dennis and his late brother, Butch, were very proud of being champions for many years playing horseshoes. He also enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports. Dennis took pride in his landscaped yard.

He is survived by his wife Lynn; his four children, Wayne R. Maki of Crystal Falls, Tara (Tim) Peltoma of Crystal Falls, Tanya (Rick) Hiltonen of Kingsford and Teresa (Mike) Mainville of Amasa; six grandchildren; Tyler, Tommy, Max, Joey, Lily and Marshall; also his brother, Robert W. (Cari) Maki; and two sisters, Nancy (Jack) Trewartha and Dorothy (Gary) Peretto and many nieces and nephews.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Helmi and his brothers, Butch and John Waisnen.

At the request of Dennis and his family services will be private.Memorials may be made in his memory.
