Joyce L. London

IRON MOUNTAIN — Joyce L. London, 93, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Monday, Nov. 16, 2020, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.

Joyce was born on Dec. 20, 1926, in Kingsford, daughter of the late James and Fern (Shambeau) Davidson. Joyce has been a resident of this area for her entire life and was a 1945 graduate of Kingsford High School.

Joyce worked in Ann Arbor as a telephone operator and then she married Henry London on Oct. 5, 1946, in Iron Mountain. Together they raised their family in Kingsford while Henry worked as a carpenter and fireman.

Joyce was a loving homemaker and worked at the The Kingsford Drug Store and at the Dickinson Inn. With the family they did a lot of camping, traveling out west and south and later on the two of them traveled around the world. After Henry’s retirement, he continued to be a carpenter and they spent most of their winters in Florida.

Joyce was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain. Over the years she was involved with the Lydia Circle, Joy Crafters and singing in the church choir for over 50 years. She also sang with the singing strings. God gave her gifts of organization and hospitality. Now Joyce is with Henry in Heaven singing with the angels.

Born on the darkest day of the year, every day got brighter after she arrived. She was always around for a supportive talk or sending letters of love for holidays, birthdays and thank-you for visiting. She enjoyed attending music events at the high school and any events or programs that the grandchildren were in. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Joyce is survived by her children, Dean (Judy) London of Hamilton Lakes; daughter, Wendy (Steve) Mulka of Kingsford; seven grandchildren, Lori (Don) Greco, Kristen London, Matthew Mulka, Paul (Alissa) Mulka, Stevie (Teri) Mulka, Cameron Mulka and Kyle (Hillary) Mulka; great-grandchildren, Miah, Evelyn and Myles; her brother, Clayton (Alice) Davidson of Ashville, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Elna Paulsen of California; several nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Henry on Dec. 8, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her brother Blair and Beverly Davidson; sister Delores and Clarence Luba.

Memorial services will be planned in the spring at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Norway Township Cemetery.
