IRON MOUNTAIN — Leo E. Schuls, 95, of Iron Mountain, passed away Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, at MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland, Mich.

He was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Kingsford, son of the late Earl and Christine (Pronto) Schuls. Leo grew up in Kingsford and was a graduate of Kingsford High School, class of 1952. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Navy from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. Leo was a proud World War II veteran.

He married Nancy Corsi on June 28, 1947, in Iron Mountain at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, of which he was a long-time member. Nancy preceded him in death on Sept. 13, 2020. Leo worked for Clairmont Trucking Company for 22 years before retiring.

He loved being in the outdoors, fishing, snowmobiling with his daughter, hunting mule deer, whitetail deer, and antelope in Colorado as well as pheasant in South Dakota. Leo was a past member of the Paisano Club and a member of Occhiettis Camp for many years.

Survivors include his daughter, Linda Kay Erickson of Midland; one grandson, Ian (Kay) Erickson of Fort Collins, Colo.; one great-granddaughter, Wren Katherine Erickson; two nephews and three nieces.

In addition to his parents and wife, Nancy, Leo was preceded in death by three sisters, Bernice Eisold Beatrice Bryngelson and LaVerne Vincent.

A memorial service will be announced in the spring. Burial will take place in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
