WILLIAM A. FLATKA

NIAGARA, Wis. — William “Bill” A. Flatka, 61, of Niagara, Wis., passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.

Bill was born Oct. 22, 1959, in Iron Mountain, son of William J. and Violet (Sparapana) Flatka. He grew up in Iron Mountain, and graduated from Kingsford High School, Class of 1978.

Bill married Barbara Hehn on Sept. 20, 2014, at Evangelical Covenant Church in Norway. He worked as a mechanic for the City of Niagara from 1989 until he retired in January of 2015, a job he truly loved. He also enjoyed many years working for Morin Excavating in Niagara, Weber Excavating in Niagara, and Nichols Trucking in Norway. For many years Bill volunteered as a firefighter for the City of Niagara. He was a member of the First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain.

Bill had a passion for hunting, enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and spending time outdoors. He was always proud to have taught his girls how to shoot a gun, change the oil, and ride a motorbike. Bill would light up a room with his smile and will always be remembered for his great personality and being a happy person. He was a loving husband, son, brother, father, and grandfather and will be missed by his many friends.

Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara; four daughters, Cassie (David) Bartolac of Green Bay, Wis., Katie (Chris) Fowles of Pulaski, Wis., Brenda (Craig) Grandaw of De Pere, Wis., and Billie Jo (John) Santy of Rhinelander, Wis.; two step-daughters, Jacquelynn (Drew) Connell of Kaukauna, Wis., and Stacy (Zach) Dreweck of Oshkosh, Wis.; one stepson, Cody Hehn of Aurora, Wis.; parents William and Violet Flatka of Iron Mountain; mother-in-law Donna Ferrise of Oconomowoc, Wis.; four sisters, Debra (Pete) Begres of Florence, Wis., Sherry Flatka of Norway, Wendy Larson of Iron Mountain and Linda Quick of Iron Mountain; and eight grandchildren, Jada, Lilly, Brooklyn, Josie, Walter, Hailey, Ruth, Quinn and one on the way.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the church. The Rev. Chad Harrison will officiate.

Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery in Niagara.

A memorial will be established in Bill’s memory.
