Scott Christy

NEW YORK — Scott Douglas Christy, 59, of New York, N.Y., died on Monday, June 14, 2021, at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital-New York City.

Scott was born Aug. 25, 1961, in Iron Mountain, and was the son of Robert “Bob” Christy and the late Naomi (Hammill) Christy.

Scott was a graduate of the North Dickinson High School Class of 1978. He attended the University of Michigan for four years and then continued his studies for six years in London where he worked for the London Tourism Board.

Scott spent two years in Paris, France where he taught English as a second language. He later relocated to Washington D.C. and attended Georgetown University and was a certified translator and interpreter.

He served as concierge for several hotels, including the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Scott transferred to New York City with Ritz-Carlton where he lived for the last 25 years.

Scott was an avid reader, and he loved to travel in his free time.

Scott is survived by his father, Robert “Bob” Christy (Shelby) of Iron Mountain, along with several relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Naomi Christy, in 2006.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Norway Township Cemetery.
