Margaret Sundstrom

NORWAY– Margaret Ann Sundstrom, 82, of Norway, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.

Margaret was born on April 14, 1939, in Norway, the daughter of the late Irene and Lloyd Welch. She grew up in Vulcan, and graduated from Vulcan High School in 1957.

Margaret married James Sundstrom in 1958. He preceded her in death in 1978.

Margaret attended the Evangelical Covenant Church in Norway. She sang in the choir and was a part of many duets and trios that provided special music for church services. Even in the last few weeks prior to her passing she would still sing hymns that she remembered having sung at one time or another.

Margaret spent most of her life caring for children and helping others.

She was always the first to welcome someone new in church or bring them something special to make them feel like they belonged.

Her greatest joy was caring for her grandchildren through their younger years. They were the light of her life.

Margaret met a very special friend, Joe Callovi, who was part of her life for the last 35-plus years. He became a father-figure to her children and they were inseparable. You rarely saw Margaret without Joe. They were quite a duo. He preceded her in death last November and she had been heart-broken without him ever since.

Margaret leaves her son, Todd (Donna) Sundstrom and her daughter Lynn (Tim) Mattord; two grandchildren, Jim (Heather) Sundstrom and Andrew (Anna) Mattord; and four great-grandchildren, Cecilia, Evelyn, Weston, and Olivia.

Margaret was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Marie Helgren.

Family will greet friends on Monday, Oct. 18, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Norway.

A memorial service will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church with Pastor James Danielson, officiating.

Interment will be held at Norway Township Cemetery.
