John Fiorucci

IRON MOUNTAIN — John Joseph Fiorucci, 88, of Iron Mountain, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Bellin Hospital, Green Bay, Wis.

He was born March 12, 1934, in Iron Mountain, the son of the late Louis and Lena (Spigarelli) Fiorucci. John was a life-long resident of the area and graduated from Iron Mountain High School. John married Barbara Larson on Oct. 3, 1953, in Green Bay, Wis. She preceded him in death on Aug. 11, 2009.

He served in the U.S. Army from July 9, 1953, until his honorable discharge as corporal on July 1, 1955.

John worked for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources – Norway office, as a forest technician. Most of his time over the years was spent working in the Dickinson County Sturgeon River State Forest, where he managed timber and designed campgrounds around many local lakes. He also worked on snowmobile trail layout and development throughout State properties.

John enjoyed working on his family farm. He was a parent member of the White Beret, Drum and Bugle Corp of Iron Mountain for six years; the Knights of Columbus; a volunteer with the Breitung Township Fire Department; a member of the Uren-Cooper American Legion Post 50, Iron Mountain; Merriman Farm Union president for many years; and volunteer for the Dickinson County Conservation District which raised funds and distributed trees for local planting.

He is survived by three sons, Dr. Steve (Jamie) Fiorucci of Watersmeet, Michael (Debbie) Fiorucci of Davison, John (Debbi) Fiorucci of Iron Mountain; one daughter, Kris (Keith) Johnson of Iron Mountain; 12 grandchildren, Jessica Fiorucci-Ullrich (Jared), Nina Fiorucci-Schwartz (Bruce), Ardella Fiorucci, Angela Fiorucci, Marcella (Kyle) Bufalini, Todd Cheney, Faith Roell, Heather Fiorucci, Michelle (Mike) Winkler, Jacob Johnson, Keri (Steven) Kleiman; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Vince (Yvonne) Fiorucci of Iron Mountain; many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and best friend and companion, Janice Emond.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, and his parents, John was preceded in death by one son, Patrick Fiorucci; one granddaughter, Gabriella Fiorucci; one grandson, Michael Fiorucci; and one brother, Eugene Fiorucci.

The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 9, at 9:30 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. Msgr. James Kaczmarek will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
