Dennis M. Fraker

IRON MOUNTAIN — Dennis M. Fraker, 75, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022, at UP Health Systems-Marquette.

He was born in Milwaukee, Wis., on Jan. 11, 1947, son of the late Leon (Teenie) and Mary Rugean (McDonnell) Fraker. Dennis graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1965 and finished his bachelor degree from Northern Michigan University five years later.

On July 14, 1973, he married the former Suzanne Thoreson.

Dennis was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, and began singing in the choir as a teenager.

A very talented musician and actor, Dennis was involved in both the Community Chorus and Community Theater. He also sang with Rhythm Review and Peninsula Singers, and enjoyed participating in local variety shows.

Dennis loved his community, and also served on the Iron Mountain School Board.

In his free time he was an avid reader, loved to play cards, downhill ski, and enjoyed riding on his motorcycle.

Dennis always greeted friends and family warmly, and was quick with a joke (usually a groaner, as he would call it).

Dennis will be deeply missed by his wife, Suzanne; two children, Emily (Matt) Brown of Temecula, Calif. and Ian (Natalie) Fraker of Fremont, Mich.; four grandchildren, Camryn, Charlotte, and Amelia Brown, and Nora Fraker: many nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Dennis is preceded in death by a sister, Karyn Wahlstrom.

Special thanks to Dennis’ nieces, Jennifer Spreen and Kristin Novara for their care and support in his final days.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church, 395 Hamilton Ave., with Rev. Michael March officiating the memorial service at 2 p.m.

Condolences to the family of Dennis M. Fraker may be expressed online at www.ernashfuneralhomes.com.
