He was born Dec. 28, 1934, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of the late Paul Demas and Maude (Montgomery) Hooser. Pete grew up in California and was a graduate of Southgate High School, class of 1952. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Air Force for 23 years as a master sergeant.

Pete was very patriotic, and his highlight was participating in the U.P. Honor Flight. He considered it a special day, and he felt everyone should have an opportunity to experience it.

His hobbies included playing and watching golf and bowling. On Nov. 3, 2022, he bowled a 300 game. He was an avid Cowboy, Raider, and Packer fan. Pete was an advocate for always being physically active. He attended Bianco’s Gym three to four times a week, did daily physical work outside, and would bowl 15 to 20 games a week.

Survivors include his significant other, Mary Carlson of Iron Mountain; three sons, Scot Hooser, Mark Dickens of California and his son, Richard; and Kevin Dickens of Florida and his daughter, Penny; one daughter, Robyn (Russell) Bloom of Warrensburg, Miss.; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pete considered Mary’s family, Kathy (Mike Gribble) Pavlat of Iron Mountain, and LeRoy (Jamie) Kline of Kansas, and their four children, Crystal (Mike) VanHese, Michael (Darlene) Ihander, Jackson Kline, and Mandy Kline; and great-grandchildren, Mylee and Sawyer VanHese, as his own family. Pete had one special brother-in-law, Robert Ketchum of Iron River.

In addition to his parents and wife, Elaine, Pete was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Hooser; five sisters, Dorothy Brown, Laura Lawry, Barbara Hooser, Marjorie Sutton, and Virginia Hooser; and one grandson, Terry Kline.
