Fredric W. Tufte

Fredric was born Nov. 8, 1942, in Seattle, son of Oswald and Loal (Johnson) Tufte. He graduated high school in North Dakota before obtaining his bachelor’s degree from University of North Dakota, master’s degree from University of Missouri and eventually his PhD in mathematics from University of Wisconsin.

Fredric married Marilyn Zanardi at St. Mary & St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iron Mountain on Aug. 12, 1972. They lived in Platteville for many years. Fredric retired as a professor of math at UW Platteville.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marilyn; a brother, Jon (Catherine) Tufte of Fargo, N.D.; a sister, Gail (Robert) Shepler of S. Winter, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held at the Lakeview Cemetery in Calumet.
