Strong support in effort to end Alzheimer’s

Bouquets & Barbs

Bouquet – From Lindsay Juricek, regional manager, Alzheimer’s Association Greater Michigan Chapter Upper Peninsula Office, Marquette:

Thursday, July 13, was a windy, cold and rainy evening, yet a bunch of people wearing purple seeking an end to Alzheimer’s met at Marion Park in Norway. The Wayne Backlund family was in competition with his son, Rob, in Vermont to see who could raise the most money for The Longest Day, an Alzheimer’s Association fundraiser and awareness event. (By the way, Wayne is really close to beating Rob!)

Wayne, his family and friends all joined together to eat brats, bid on silent auction items, raffle door prizes, play cribbage and talk about Alzheimer’s, a disease that affects more than 9,000 Yoopers.

I just want to thank Wayne and his family for their kindness, advocacy and dedication to find an end to Alzheimer’s.

Money dropped in parking returned by ‘honest people’

Bouquet – From the family of Blanche Lantz, Felch:

The family of Blanche Lantz was happy to learn honest people still exist. When a envelope with a significant amount of money, collected by a local church for the Lantz benefit, was accidentally dropped in the Walmart parking lot, Rita Hankala and Will Casper of Henderson, Nevada, went out of their way to track down the owner of the money.

Appreciate level of care available locally at DCHS

Bouquet – From Agatha Cavaiani, Kingsford:

Having had recent eye surgery I needed attention from the compassionate nurses at our Dickinson County Healthcare System.

If you feel comfortable having testing and procedures done at this facility, the caring staff is exceptional. I shopped locally and was glad I did, and perhaps you would be, too.
