Proud Equestrian Program a success thanks to support

Bouquets & Barbs

Bouquet

From Maureen Garvaglia, Proud Equestrian Program:

The 2017 4-H Proud Equestrian Program was a huge success! We had 37 riders, the largest number of participants in PEP history. We would like to thank our committee members: Maureen Garvaglia, Sally and Gary Arcand, Sharon, Lexi and Dale Maahs, Ted Jensen, Cathy Lebeau, Deb Dzeidzik and Debra Anderson.

Thank you to the many horse owners who donated their incredible animals for use. Without their sacrifice and their horse’s patience and talent, we would have no program. Horse donors include: Sally and Gary Arcand and Jordyn Stephens (Chip), Maureen Garvaglia (Jack), Megan Garvaglia (Roxie), Kim and Autam Wery (Drifter and Hobo), Sharon and Lexi Maahs (Jackpot), Miranda and Jackie Menghini (Snickers), Beth Bray (Rebel), Ben Pickart (Rio), Cortnee Fornetti/Integrity Farms (Justice), Sherri Miller/ Integrity Farms (Dice), and Sarah Hernandez/Paradise Acres (Leroy).

Thank you to our sponsors as well and to all who made monetary donations at our event.

We had more than 40 adult and teen volunteers that helped with sidewalking, leading and taking care of the horses. Special thank you to Mary Ann Wills and Ted Jensen for managing the kitchen and making sure we are all well fed.

Thank you, Bonnie Depue. You are an inspiration and we are very fortunate to have you travel up to our community and share your talent and expertise.

If you would like to be part of this wonderful program, check out the Dickinson County 4H Proud Equestrian Program on Facebook or call the MSU Extension office at 906-774-0363.

Good times, good food at 2017 Italian Fest

Bouquet

From Agatha Cavaiani, Kingsford:

The Italians had their day in the sun. The fest was well-organized, the programs well announced and on time, and the price reasonable.

The entertainment was awesome, the food mouth-watering and a wide variety of thirst quenchers were available.

The kids had their day, too. A few Italian heritage Iron Mountain natives in their 90’s were in attendance also.

The grape stomp and Italian dinner throw were great crowd pleasers.

Don’t know how you will top this year’s spectacular, but hope to be under the big white tent come 2018.

Joy.
