Izzo likes Ravens; aide coached at NMU

January 18, 2013 - Burt Angeli
Iron Mountain’s Tommy Izzo wants the Baltimore Ravens to upset the New England Patriots in Sunday’s AFC Championship.

The Michigan State coach, interviewed Friday on the “Tim Brando Radio Show,” noted Ravens assistant head coach and special teams coordinator Jerry Rosburg has ties to Northern Michigan University.

Rosburg, at NMU from 1981 to 1986, once roomed with Izzo and Steve Mariucci. Rosburg started out as an NMU grad assistant from 1981 to 1982, coached linebackers from 1983 to 1985 and became the Wildcats defensive coordinator in 1986.

During that span, Rosburg earned his master’s in education administration.
