Breaking down hockey sticks

Michigan State sophomore Brent Darnell, according to the Lansing State Journal, “goes through some 15” hockey sticks per season. That ain’t cheap at $200-plus per stick although a 30-day warranty comes in useful at times.

How about the Kingsford Flivver high school hockey team? We checked with senior forward Nick Brule, who went through eight last year and is up to five this season. The norm is three to five per year.

Luck and a different model, they’re composite and not wood these days, may be the reason for the reduction in sticks ...
