Updates to blogs
July 16, 2013 - Marguerite Lanthier
My two most recent blogs may have left readers (if there were any) wondering how things ended. CountryUSA, which started as a rainy, chaotic mess for Eric Church, ended calmly. Friday we were prepared for a long wait on the highway and for rain. There was no long wait. We got into the parking lot right away, amid a few sprinkles. It was okay if it rained — we had rain ponchos and waterproof shoes. Well, until we decided we wouldn’t need them anymore, which was before Toby Keith played. So we stowed that gear and switched to sandals. Of course a light but steady rain started shortly after he started to play. That made the grounds a muddy mess again. My sandals cleaned up fine. Not the ones from the previous Tuesday though. They’re still muddy. Saturday was cloudy and slightly cool. We arrived in time for happy hour, set up chairs and enjoyed a relaxing day. I did forget the bag that had our ponchos and my favorite Adidas hat somewhere on the grounds when we left. Pearl Jam’s big announcement was tour dates for their North American tour. Too bad the closest date is Philadelphia. Hopefully I will get to see them on July 19 at Wrigley Field, which may have to be another blog. They also had a second countdown that week to announce the release date for their upcoming CD, “Lightning Bolt,” which will be available on Oct. 15. You can check out the first single, “Mind Your Manners,” online right now.
