High expectations for Gravel's Huskies

October 7, 2013 - Burt Angeli
Kingsford’s Kevin Gravel and the St. Cloud State Huskies reached college hockey’s Frozen Four last season. The defenseman, interviewed by Mick Hatten of the St. Cloud Times, was asked about his veteran team (22 players return) making another run.

“I think the biggest thing for us is we know it’s possible to accomplish that at St. Cloud. Before, it was like a dream, a distant goal,” Gravel said. “It’s possible to compete for a national championship and coming in, that’s a realistic goal.

“But you can’t really have a hangover about last season and you can’t think it’s just going to fall into place. Look at my freshman year (2010-11). We had similar expectations and they had finished one win away from the Frozen Four the year before.

“I think it’s going to be good for the seniors to be able to use that and do whatever we can to make sure this is not a repeat of that.”
