A.J. Hawk Stole her Thunder

October 25, 2013 - Theresa Proudfit
After having my 20 week ultra sound and finding out I'm carrying a baby girl we stopped for a quick lunch at the Harmony Cafe in Green Bay. As I was browsing at some baby books at the attached Goodwill while waiting for my sandwich, my husband all big eyed and giddy tells me he thinks he sees A.J. Hawk sitting in the cafe. To humor him I glance over at the man and his wife sipping coffee. I think he might be right. While waiting for the lady to make our lunch we look around the cafe. We see cellphone photos being taken and people whispering. It seems a few other customers recognized him as well.

Being my husband is a huge, slightly obnoxious, Green Bay Packer fan I'm not surprised that he is star struck. I know this has pretty much made his whole day. We get our lunch and sit at the table next to The Hawk's. John is speechless, which I find funny because he has no problem yelling, screaming and throwing his hat at the Packers at home in front of the television. Mrs. Hawk gets up to use the restroom and it looks like the couple is ready to leave so I figured its now or never. I politely ask A.J. if he would mind having his picture taken with my husband and he happily obliges. The two actually spoke football for a few minutes before I pulled John back to our table to finish our lunch. He was actually a super nice guy, for a Packer.

So on with the day. I'm making phone calls filling in family members about our healthy little girl and I ask John if he's going to call his parents. He does. He calls his dad and tells him all about the coffee shop and A.J. Hawk and the photograph. Then his dad must of asked about the ultra sound. "Oh yeah, we're having a girl".

The rest of the ride home John started thinking of baby names. Andrea Jean?, Allison Jean?, Annie?, Alexis? Finally I say, let it go John, we are not naming the baby A.J. "How about Hawk?" he says.
