January 28, 2014 - Marguerite Lanthier
Sadly, my car was injured in an accident last night. I'm all right and so is the other guy. After I left work at 11 p.m. (instead of 10:30 because I was late) as I approached the intersection of Carpenter and Breitung I noticed the old guy on Breitung wasn't going to stop for the blinking red light. Since I was so close to the intersection, I wasn't going to be able to stop myself from hitting him. I hit him on the driver's side. Luckily it hit near the backseat, so he wasn't injured. My only injury was from the seatbelt pushing against my underwire. What a horrible feeling, watching yourself hit someone and knowing you can't do anything to stop it. After a few seconds of stunned silence in the car I exited and called 911. The old man in the other car had exited too and was apologizing. He was on his way to the hospital to sit with his wife who is a patient there. I walked around the car to look at the damage. The passenger side headlight is broken but still works. There is damage underneath the light. The hood is a little buckled and the driver's side door makes a noise when I exit. That's what happens when you get to work late.
