Still getting the hang of it

March 11, 2014 - Nikki Younk
Owning your own home can be a wonderful thing. It’s nice to have a place of your own, where you can do what you want when you want. However, you also have to deal with this thing called responsibility.

Harsh winters like this make me want to leave my own home and go running back to a rented apartment or my parents’ houses. Places where I don’t have to personally deal with things like a sewer line clogged from the deep frost, a roof creaking with too much snow piled on top, or a potential basement flood in the upcoming spring thaw. At least the water pipes haven’t froze — yet. (Knock on wood!)

I’m sure seasoned homeowners will laugh at my relatively minor problems. I’m sure I will too in a few years. Right now, I’m still getting the hang of it.
