HARRIS - North Dickinson produced a sweep over Bark River-Harris (25-21, 25-12, 25-23) in a Skyline Conference matchup here Thursday evening.

"This was a big team win," said Nordics coach Sandy Haustein. "I told the girls they had to be ready to come out and play, just like they did against Rapid River, and they came out and played. I'm very pleased with their performance tonight."

From the onset of the first match, both teams played very competitive. North Dickinson (7-5 overall) was able to pull away a bit, gaining a 15-7 lead. But just as quickly, the Broncos rallied back to within three points, and the score was 20-17. They traded blows for the rest of the match, but the Nordics' lead was just enough to earn them a 25-21 victory.

North Dickinson's Miranda Jacobson goes up for the kill during the first set of their match against Bark River-Harris Thursday night. The Nordics swept the Broncos 3-0.

Right from the start of the second set, the loss of the first set seemed to have deflated BR-H, and the effort simply wasn't there.

"We just didn't have the energy to be out there," said Broncos coach John Jorasz. "They were down after the loss of that first game, and they didn't have enough time before the second game to shake it off."

BR-H bounced back in the third set, keeping the score even throughout most of the set. Every time that North Dickinson put some distance on the scoreboard, the Broncos responded well. The set was tied 22-22, but the Nordics were able to capitalize on some errors by the Broncos and close out the game 25-23.

"(My girls) started hitting the ball, and that's what we've been lacking the last few games that we've played," said Haustein. "They were really being aggressive at the net. They did a really good job tonight."

The Broncos' jayvees won their match 2-1 (25-21, 22-25, 15-12).
