GWINN - Norway rallied for a late touchdown to defeat Gwinn 25-24 in a Mid-Peninsula Conference thriller Friday night.

Norway's Jorden Neumann rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns, including a one-yard plunge that evened the game at 24-24 with 1:04 remaining.

William Bourg's extra-point kick was true, giving the Knights their first Mid-Peninsula win of the season.

"The kids played hard. We worked hard in practice all week," said Norway coach Bob Madigan.

The Knights trailed 8-6 at halftime, but struck for a pair of long TD's in the third quarter. Isaac Bray connected with John Grayvold for a 69-yard scoring pass early in the frame and Neumann ripped off a 69-yard sprint that gave the Knights an 18-16 lead.

Gwinn kept answering, as Owen DeVooght ran 18 yards for a go-ahead TD at the 3:34 mark of the third. Caleb Floars' conversion run - the Modeltowners' third of the night - made it 24-18 Gwinn.

"It was kind of a tale of two different halves," Madigan said. "Defense kept us in it in the first half and the offense came through in the second."

The winning score was set up by Bray's 28-yard pass to Grayvold, who reached the one. The Knights totaled 331 yards in the game - 252 in the second half.

"We just got it clicking a little better," Madigan said of the second-half surge.

Bray completed six of 12 for 145 yards and two TDs, connecting with Nicholas Pearman on a 12-yard score in the second quarter.

Gwinn's DeVooght was the leading rusher with 154 yards on 23 tries. Neumann's 144 yards came on just 16 touches.

Jake Pedrotti, 14 tackles, and Tyler Skoglund, nine, were Norway's defensive leaders.

Norway (3-5, 1-4) wraps up its season Friday, hosting Iron Mountain.

Gwinn fell to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in the Mid-Pen.
