IRON MOUNTAIN - Team Norway Alpine Ski Racing Team began the Christmas holidays with its 13th annual Christmas Giant Slalom Camp held at Pine Mountain.
The camp saw many returning Team Norway "alumni" coming in to assist with the training of this year's team. This year's Christmas Giant Slalom Camp saw athletes from around the Midwest travel to Pine Mountain Resort to gain the necessary race training time over this past week to be successful in their upcoming season.
"We were able to get all the necessary training we needed this past week at Pine Mountain ski area," head coach Ron Lawrence said. "The snow conditions were outstanding. We put in one additional 12-hour day skiing and training and that will really help us in the future as we get into our racing schedule."

Andrew Letter, a former Team Norway standout now with the Marquette University Ski Racing Team, joined the Team Norway Christmas Camp held at Pine Mountain Ski Resort.
Lawrence noted plenty of progress out of many of the young racers.
"It is important for us to get as much time on snow as possible," Lawrence said. "The athletes understand that in order to ski at a high level you need to spend time skiing and working on the fundamentals.
"We were able to accomplish that at Pine Mountain. We now are ready for our season to begin."
Team Norway Alpine Ski Racing Team will begin its season with upcoming Central United States Ski Association races (Region II) at Mt. Ripley (Hancock) and Chestnut Ski Area (Galena, Ill.) over the next couple of weeks.
Many of the Team Norway athletes will also begin their Wisconsin and Michigan high school racing schedules.
