IRON RIVER - Due to the recent mild weather, the inaugural IronLine Sled Dog Race in Iron River has been postponed.
The race is now scheduled for Friday, Feb. 8 and Saturday, Feb. 9. It had been scheduled for Jan. 18 and 19.
"We will be having almost the same exact race that weekend, except that we are not doing our downtown start," said race director Josh Brindle.
The race will still utilize Iron County Recreational Trail 16, which passes near the George Young Recreation Complex and Chicagon Lake.
Brindle added that the race will still include two classes: a 10-dog professional class, which will run a 40-mile loop, and a six-dog sport class, which will run a 20-mile loop.
Mushers in both classes will run their respective loops once on Friday evening and once on Saturday morning.
"So far, the response has been really good from the community especially and mushers alike," Brindle said of the race.
