CRYSTAL FALLS - Forest Park, behind Lexi Gussert's 36 points and 15 rebounds, pulled away in the second half to beat Iron Mountain 68-31 in non-conference girls basketball Monday at Eddie Chambers Gymnasium.
The Trojans, leading 38-27 at halftime, rolled 30-4 in the second half.
"We played a good game," Trojans coach Jeff Syrjanen said. "We moved the ball very well, got the open looks, and shot the ball pretty well from the field."
Gussert also contributed eight assists, four steals and three blocked shots. The junior sank seven three-point field goals.
Kendra Campbell added 12 points for the Trojans. Sam Nylund dished out five assists and Sierra Robarge had three.
Katelynn Johnson netted a team-high eight points for the Mountaineers, who trailed by 14 after three quarters.
"We played as hard as we could," Mountaineers coach John Hogberg said. "It wasn't a 30-point game. Gussert is a great player. She's smart, a great passer and a great shooter."
Forest Park, going to a half-court diamond press and falling back into a 1-3-1 zone, forced 19 turnovers.
The Trojans (17-1) travel to North Dickinson on Thursday. The Mountaineers (3-14) entertain Kingsford on Friday.
