Alois Balcerzak

MANSFIELD - Alois E. Balcerzak, 84, of Mansfield, passed away at his home Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013.

He was born June 6, 1928, in Milwaukee, son of the late Alex and Marie (Rydlewski) Balcerzak. Alois grew up in Milwaukee and attended school there.

At 18 years of age, Alois joined the U.S. Army and served in World War II; serving from June 1946 until being honorably discharged in 1952.

Alois married Frances Krajacic on June 27, 1953, in Milwaukee. They resided in Milwaukee for three years before moving to Cudahy, Wis. in 1956. While residing in Cudahy, Alois worked for Ladish Co. as an inspector for more than 34 years, retiring in 1988. In 2008 he and his wife moved to Mansfield Township.

He was an active member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Channing, an active member of the Polish Legion in Cudahy during its early years, and a member of the American Legion Louis Bowman Post 87 and the Veterans of Foreign War Tufts-Rondin Post 2891 in Crystal Falls. He loved fishing and enjoyed gardening.

Alois is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Frances; one son, Michael (Amy) Balcerzak of Oak Creek, Wis.; one daughter, Sharon King of Burlington, Wis.; two sisters, Gloria and Laverne, both of Milwaukee; and two grandchildren, Robert King and Stephanie Borkowski.

Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church in Channing.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at the church. Fr. Dan Malone will officiate.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls in the spring. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by the East Side Veterans Council.
