Forrest Barrow

CLINTONVILLE, Wis. - Forrest "Trees" G. Barrow, 80, of Clintonville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at the Pine Manor Health Care Center in Embarrass.

Forrest was born Sept. 20, 1932, in Kingsford, the son of the late Henry and Iona (Coen) Barrow. He attended Kingsford High School where he ran track and set some records that held for more than 30 years.

Forrest served in the U.S. Marine Corps from Jan. 24, 1951, until his discharge on May 26, 1952, where he obtained the rank of drill sergeant.

Forrest met a Clintonville girl, Dorothy Gretzinger in Milwaukee. The two were married on Feb. 20, 1954, at Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville. The couple lived in Milwaukee and then in the Detroit area until returning to Clintonville in 1971, where they have lived since.

Forrest worked in different management positions including Garwood Industries in Michigan and Marion Body Works. He later worked for Choice Beer Sales in Shawano, Wis. until retirement.

Dorothy preceded her husband in death on May 16, 2006, after 52 years of marriage.

Forrest's hobbies included curling, golfing, fishing, hunting and was an award winning "humstrum" player. He also enjoyed playing softball and was a proud member of the "Untouchables" team. His past memberships included the Clintonville Curling Team and the Clintonville Riverside Golf Course.

Forrest enjoyed spending time and socializing with friends and especially with his family.

Survivors include his daughters, Cindy (Jerry) Zaddack of Neenah, Wis., Jeannie (Pete) Sasse of Clintonville, Nancy (Tom) Rohan of Bear Creek, Wis. and Donna (Bob) Krueger of Clintonville; his son, Dave (Roxann) Barrow of Hortonville; his grandchildren, Brian Zaddack, Amanda (Brian) Boehm, Julie (Brian) Stamm, Zachary and Nicole Barrow, Briana and Jacob Bamke, Samantha (Cody) Ebert, Mallory and Brandon Roberts, and Amber and Nathan Krueger; seven great-grandsons; his sister, Donna Poquette of Kingsford; and his sister-in-law, Beverly Barrow of Neenah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; two brothers, Calvin "Dick" and John "Jack" Barrow and his son-in-law, Joe Roberts.

Funeral services were held on Feb. 14.
