Caught in machine in Commonwealth

FLORENCE, Wis. - A Commonwealth, Wis. man involved in an industrial accident at a Florence County wood products company on Thursday was reported to be in stable condition.

Florence County Sheriff Jeff Rickaby released additional information about the accident on Friday.

The accident occurred at 12:10 p.m. Thursday at Northern Forest Products on County Road N in Commonwealth.

According to Rickaby, a 49-year-old man was cleaning out a debarking machine when a fellow employee turned the machine on by accident.

The man sustained a serious injury to his left arm. Rickaby said that fellow employees extracted the man from the machine and applied a tourniquet to his arm.

He was transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. His condition was listed as stable, Rickaby said.
