MARINETTE, Wis. - A Crivitz, Wis. man is dead from internal injuries sustained in a rollover accident that occurred on County Highway W early Saturday morning.

Deputies from the Marinette County Sheriff's Office received a call of a vehicle that was found rollover over on County Highway W just west of the village of Crivitz on the back side of the north ditch at 5:40 a.m. Saturday.

No persons were located at the scene.

Investigation led officers to the registered owner's residence in the town of Stephenson. No one answered the door at the residence. On a second stop at this residence, at about noon on Saturday, contact was made with the registered owner of the crashed vehicle.

Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve said this person indicated his roommate was also in the vehicle when it crashed late the previous night.

When the officers asked to speak with this second person, the registered owner found him in an upstairs bathroom unconscious and presumed dead.

Crivitz Rescue and additional officers responded. Coroner George Smith pronounced the male victim dead at the scene.

Deceased is Steven J. Hirth, 52, who had resided in the town of Stephenson since January of this year.

An autopsy was performed on the victim today. It is believed the victim died of internal injuries sustained in the crash.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this crash, Sauve said.

The case remains under investigation by the sheriff's office and coroner.

Anyone who has any information about this crash is asked to contact the sheriff's office at (715) 732-7626 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-427-5857.

This is Marinette County's third traffic fatality this year.
