NORWAY - Norway's Ashley Zanon wouldn't mind a few more cold, miserable afternoons at Marion Park.
Battling near-freezing temperatures and a mixed batch of precipitation, Zanon tossed five-innings on no-hit ball as Norway blasted Gwinn 12-0 in the season's first Mid-Peninsula softball game of the season.
"I was very impressed with Ashley tonight, especially with the cold and rain," Norway head coach Scott Conery said. "She really pitched well."
Bobbi Hulce smacked a three-run inside-the-park home run to stake the Knights to a 6-0 lead in the third inning. Hulce added two more hits in the game.
Rachel Conery and Bailey Grayvold also had two hits each.
"The girls really played well even with the conditions being as poor as they were," Conery said.
A second game was called off.
Norway (7-6, 1-0 MPC) hosts Superior Central today and Niagara on Monday.
