IRON MOUNTAIN - Sister Jeanne Marie of the Holy Spirit, OCD, (Mary Ann Dziennik), 85, a member of the Carmelite Community, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at the Carmelite Monastery in Iron Mountain, located at U.S. 2-M-95.
Sister Jeanne Marie was born on Aug. 8, 1928, in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Roman and Thecla Dziennik.
Sister entered the recently founded Carmelite Monastery of the Holy Cross on Oct. 3, 1954, and made her Profession of Solemn Vows on May 24, 1959.
She is survived by two sisters-in law, Jennie Dziennik and Pat Dziennik, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roman and Thecla Dziennik; and two brothers, John and Tom Dziennik.
Sister Jeanne Marie's deep love for "Jesus through Mary" was manifest in her nearly 60 years of fidelity to a life of prayer and sacrifice for the good of the Church and the entire world. Sister was loved and appreciated by her family and her Carmelite Community for her thoughtfulness, her readiness to be of service and her ability to lighten any situation with quick wit and her inimitable sense of humor. Many who called the Monastery for prayers experienced her genuine spirit of joy, coupled with a very sympathetic, caring heart and a readiness to listen, offer a word of comfort and a sincere assurance of the Community's prayers.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Monastery Chapel. Father Dan Malone, Chaplain of the Carmelite Community, will preside at the public prayer services at 7 p.m.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at the Monastery Chapel by Father Francis Dobrzenski on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in the Carmelite Monastery Cemetery.
Memorials of Masses may be offered to the Carmelite Monastery in lieu of flowers.
