Chalk up a basketball "W" for Tommy Izzo's Spartans when Minnesota visits East Lansing on Jan. 11.

It's a lock because MSU never loses with the "Super Dooper Yoopers" in the house. That area group of Tommy Izzo fans owns a 14-game unbeaten streak.

Marquette's near-perfect 1968 football team will be honored this weekend.

The Redmen, coached in those days by Iron River's Jerry Pangrazzi, opened the season with a 19-19 tie against Kingsford and won the next seven games to take the Great Lakes Conference championship.

"They played together so well," said Pangrazzi, who coached the Redmen from 1964-68 before serving 18 years as the MSHS activities-athletic director. "They didn't care who got credit, just as long as they won. They were relatively small, but very hard workers."
