EAGLE RIVER, Wis. - Kingsford battled to a scoreless tie against Lakeland and then dumped Superior 4-1 in boys varsity soccer Saturday.
"We played really well over the weekend," flivvers coach Alex Milinski said. "We created a lot of chances against Lakeland, but we were just unable to finish them. We had shots going just wide, hitting the crossbar, and the Lakeland keeper made some really big saves."
The game marked the first time this season that the Flivvers were shut out.
Playing back-to-back contests, the Flivvers quickly recovered against Superior. Taylor Wickman scored twice in the win. Brett Milinski and Chris Roell added the other markers. Zac Stankevich notched two assists, and Forrest Nelson had another.
"The guys all got a lot of good minutes," Milinski said. "We got on the board early against and then added three more goals before Superior pulled a goal back."
Kingsford, now 11-1-2, hosts Marquette Tuesday.
