OSHKOSH, Wis. - Florence did "an amazing job' in the Wisconsin-Oshkosh Showdown high school girls volleyball tournament held Friday and Saturday.

Coach Trudy Rochon's Bobcats won two of seven matches in the 32-team tournament.

"We held our own and played very well against the division one and two teams," Rochon said.

The Bobcats dropped matches to Royall, 25-21, 17-25, 13-15; Oshkosh North, 20-25, 27-29; Seymour, 18-25, 17-25; Sheboygan North, 23-25, 22-25, and Campbellsport, 23-25, 25-21, 15-9.

"Taking Oshkosh North to overtime in game two was a huge boost of confidence," Rochon said.

Florence defeated Omro, 23-25, 25-21, 15-9, and

avenged the opening loss to Royall, 19-25, 25-21, 15-11.

"We attend this tournament to improve our blocking and block coverage, and that goal was met, if not exceeded," said Rochon, noting Royall was the only other Division 4 team. "The Lady Cats made all their fans and coach extremely proud."

Union Grove downed Oconto Falls, No. 8 in Division 2, by a 2-1 decision for the title.
