FAITHORN - Karen E. Holstein, 65, of Faithorn, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2013, at her home in Faithorn.
She was born on April 2, 1948, in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Herbert and Lucille (Warnecke) Rathke. On June 22, 1968, she married Richard "Dick" Holstein in Milwaukee.
Amongst her many different hobbies, Karen loved traveling, gardening, watching wildlife - especially humming birds - but most of all she just loved life in general. Karen loved being with her family and would make friends with everyone she met.

She is survived by her loving husband; one son, Bradley (Robyn) Holstein of Oshkosh, Wis.; one daughter, Kelly (Greg) Saunders of Portland, Ore.; two brothers, Gordon (Diane) Rathke of Germantown, Wis., and Charles Rathke of Peshtigo, Wis.; one uncle, Carleton (Alice) Warnecke of Peshtigo; a very special friend, Miriam Rosen of Monchengladbach, Germany; as well as nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Karen E. Holstein will be at noon Central time on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at the Faithorn United Methodist Church. A luncheon will follow services in the Faithorn Town Hall.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Karen Holstein's name and directed to the Faithorn United Methodist Church.
